The Need for Fuel Switching Technology in Manufacturing
One of the last stages of our step-by-step process is to deliver solutions to help manufacturers move away from natural gas use, to reduce carbon emissions from thermal processes and decarbonise.
Direct heating can make up a large percentage of manufacturing site’s energy demand, and without addressing it there is no realistic possibility of full decarbonisation. Industrial ovens, drying processes, thermal oxidisers and boilers rely on heat.
Natural gas remains 3-4 times cheaper than electricity in the UK, so switching fuels and remaining competitive is not straightforward. Process Energy understand these financial pressures, and help navigate towards solutions that deliver return on investment.

Solutions to Reduce Natural Gas use
Many solutions are available. Electrification of thermal equipment is possible, and Process Energy can help deliver the changes.
Heat pumps help move away from gas use, and if powered by waste heat the performance can be further increased.
Process Energy have experience working with a major UK steel manufacturer on a project to switch to hydrogen fuel. If you are located within one of the major hydrogen clusters, Process Energy can help with this transition.
